What is Black Soap?
Black soap is extracted from a mixture of burnt plantain skins, palm kernel oil, and water over an open fire to produce ash or “soda”. Then it’s mixed with water again until all the lye and sodium hydroxide has been removed from it. The leftover ash helps remove dead skin cells.
